ST. CLOUD — A group of kids from the Boys and Girls Club had a unique opportunity last week.

The kids spent the day visiting local businesses to learn what it takes to be a CEO.

Dick Bitzan of DJ Bitzan Jewelers says the program has really energized his staff.

The kids were great. They showed a real interest in exploring specific roles in an organization. Their confidence and composure in what could be an intimidating situation was incredible.

The group was able to visit PCI Inc., DJ Bitzan Jewelers, Rice Companies and the Boys and Girls Club administrative office to explore specific roles, learn more about each organization and what it takes to be an effective leader.

Mary Swingle is the President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club. She says it was fun spending the day with future community leaders.

They were so professional in the way they dressed, the questions they asked, the way they carried themselves at an executive luncheon, the way they participated in company board meetings.

Next steps for this cohort of future CEOs include participating in Boys and Girls Club CEO programs and working together to start their own business.

Companies interested in committing to a future CEO for a Day program can contact the Boys and Girls Club at 320-252-7616.
