Eight special Attack on Titan episodes air this week on Crunchyroll and Funimation, but what is the new OAD all about?

In January 2022, the world is on the verge of being invaded by titans, with the final installment of the iconic ‘Attack on Titan’ animated series scheduled for a world premiere.

However, fans of the series will be delighted to hear that some new content from the brutal universe is making its way to your favorite anime streaming platforms this week.

Eight special episodes of the Attack on Titan anime will be released, but when will they be available to stream and what are they all about?

Attack on Titan gets new episodes …

This week, it was revealed that eight special episodes of Attack on Titan will air worldwide on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

The eight-episode OAD collection was previously only available to those who had purchased the official DVD collection, each bringing “new” canon content to the Attack on Titan franchise.

All eight new episodes of Attack on Titan will be available to stream online via Crunchyroll and Funimation starting Sunday, December 19.e; however, a specific release time has yet to be confirmed by either platform.

Episodes 1-3 feature Hange’s mission to capture the first Titan live, with a special look at the original 104’s training cap.e Cadet corps.

Episodes 4-5 is an adaptation of the No Regrets spin-off manga, focusing on the story of Captain Lei and Commander Erwin.

Finally, Episodes 6-8 are based on the Lost Girls spinoff novel series, featuring personal stories of Annie and Mikasa.

When will season 4 part 2 be released?

Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2, the latest TV broadcast of the animated series, set to premiere worldwide Sunday January 9e, 2022.

At the time of writing, an international broadcast time has not been publicly confirmed, but new episodes are slated to launch around 9 p.m. GMT in accordance with the Season 4 Part 1 content release.

The number of episodes in the last chapter of the animated series has recently was reported at 12.

The series will be available on Funimation and Crunchyroll, a more detailed breakdown of all available platforms will be released closer to the premiere date.

Manga sales of the year …

This year, the Attack on Titan manga series officially ended, releasing its final volume in June (in Japan) and October (internationally).

It’s no surprise, then, that the series is on Oricon’s best-selling manga list for 2021, ranking fourth overall with 7.3 million copies sold worldwide.

Interestingly, this latest volume of Attack on Titan, which was arguably the most controversial manga story of the entire year, was not among the best-selling volumes of 2021.

Attack on Titan x Warzone…

Yesterday December 15e, it appeared that there was an issue with some Call of Duty: Warzone player accounts.

Following a new update, the Armory tab of some players show that an upcoming collaboration and content bundle featuring Attack on Titan was featured.

Data miner Nanikos would then reveal some additional information about the upcoming collaboration.

According to the leaks, the Levi Tracer Pack will include:

  • An operator skin for Daniel
  • A new finishing move / execution
  • A new flagship introduction
  • A new streak of MVP highlights
  • A new emblem
  • A new sticker
