Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – Wednesday’s storm kept public safety workers in Rochester occupied overnight.

The Rochester Fire Department reports responding to 35 calls for help between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday.

RFD says the calls included several small fires, gas leaks, downed power lines and other dangers caused by fallen trees. A SE Rochester resident was trapped in his home when a large tree fell and blocked his front door. Firefighters used chainsaws to cut a section of the tree so the person could get out.

And teams responded to a garage fire. It was reported around 12:30 am Thursday at 2307 7th Ave. BORN. RFD says a burning transformer on a utility pole has spread to the nearby detached garage. There were no injuries and the neighboring house was not affected by the fire.

It was a historic storm.
